- 6 Eggs (divided and at room temperature)
- 1/2 tsp. Salt mixed with Egg Whites listed above
- 3 Cups Sugar
- 3 Cups Swans Down Cake Flour
- 1/2 Cup Shortening
- 1/2 Cup Margarine or butter (1 Stick)
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- 1 tsp. Lemon Extract
- 1/2 Pint Sour Cream Combined with pinch Baking Soda
- Mix sugar and shortening well. Blend in margarine. Add egg yolks (one at a time).
- Add sour cream and flavoring. Beat well. Add dry ingredients (flour). Beat for 5 minutes.
- Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
- Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 300-325 for about 1 hour 15 minutes.
- Cool for 5 minutes.
