Pound Cake

Ingredients
  • 6 Eggs (divided and at room temperature)
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt mixed with Egg Whites listed above
  • 3 Cups Sugar
  • 3 Cups Swans Down Cake Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Shortening
  • 1/2 Cup Margarine or butter (1 Stick)
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 1 tsp. Lemon Extract
  • 1/2 Pint Sour Cream Combined with pinch Baking Soda
Instructions
  1. Mix sugar and shortening well. Blend in margarine. Add egg yolks (one at a time).
  2. Add sour cream and flavoring. Beat well. Add dry ingredients (flour). Beat for 5 minutes.
  3. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  4. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 300-325 for about 1 hour 15 minutes.
  5. Cool for 5 minutes.
